The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability chaired by Congressman James Comer of Kentucky released a game-changing interim report in their investigation into Biden family corruption this week sending shockwaves through Washington, D.C. that could have been measured on the Richter scale.



The meticulously detailed 36-page briefing memo made one thing perfectly clear: The Biden family is in politics not just for public service, but also to make money — and lots of it. Four subpoenas yielded the mother lode of bank records and wire transfer reports that provided critical details into the alleged criminal enterprise that the American people have been reading about — and lied to about — for years now. The underlying source documents show how Biden family members and business associates set up a complex network of over twenty limited liability corporations and shell companies in order to move and conceal funds, and in the process make it abundantly more difficult for any investigators like Chairman Comer to follow the flow of money from business to business and account to account.



To date, official financial records show more than $10 million flowing from foreign sources in China and Romania into accounts controlled by Biden business associates who then disseminated large amounts of cash to as many as nine Biden family members, including Hunter Biden. And anyone who’s been following this story for the past five years knows that this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are more countries, more international businessmen, and millions more in foreign income for the Biden family — and it’s all going to come out for the American people to see for themselves. House Republicans will continue to methodically follow the money, just like in the case of President Richard Nixon and Watergate. And much to Joe Biden’s chagrin, bank records didn’t lie back then and they don’t lie now.



The Comer report has put everyone on notice that this scandal is real and it’s not going away. Now that the public has gotten to see images of all of these big money wire transfers from foreign sources with their own eyes, President Biden can no longer simply dismiss it all as “not true.” You see, someone is lying and it’s not the documents. These shady and lucrative financial transactions took place both during and after Joe Biden’s vice presidency and that goes to the core questions of the case. First, what exactly did the extended Biden family do to earn all of this of this income; and second, what did Joe Biden know and when did he know it?



The White House and their allies in the biased mainstream media are trying — with a straight face believe it or not — to say that President Biden wasn’t a part of these corrupt business ventures that were taking place while he was serving as Barack Obama’s vice president. That strains credulity because anyone with a lick of common sense sees this for what it is — a high dollar influence peddling operation that spiraled out of control. Those suggesting that Hunter Biden and James Biden would have made all this money if Joe Biden wasn’t a very powerful politician sitting at the highest levels of government can’t be taken seriously. Let’s be honest; this money didn’t come in because Hunter Biden is some business genius or public policy expert. This money came in because Joe Biden was a sitting Vice President of the United States who someday might be president. And on January 20, 2021, those investments paid off in spades.



In fact, the evidence suggests not only did Joe Biden know about these deals, but that he was the lynchpin of the whole operation. It’s for that reason and that reason alone that this investigation is an investigation focused on the activities of the president of the United States and not his son, or any other family member. Case in point is several of the sinister wire transfers in question ended up in an account labeled simply as “Biden.” President Biden must come clean about these transactions without delay and tell the American people who this bank account belongs to. No more disinformation campaigns. No more lies. No more ducking questions. No more malarkey.

Chairman James Comer and his dogged Republican colleagues on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability made history this week. They came forward with factual evidence against President Joe Biden and his extended family that make President Nixon’s Watergate investigation and President Clinton’s Whitewater investigation look like traffic infractions by comparison. 



If there was ever a doubt, it’s clear now that a thin five-seat majority in the House can make an enormous difference in the fight for transparency and integrity at the highest levels of government in Washington, D.C. 



The consequential information that was released makes it clear that Joe Biden is the central figure in this investigation because it was his powerful position in high office that made the millions in foreign income for his family and business associates a reality. 



Wednesday’s press conference at the U.S. Capitol outlined in granular detail how Biden family members and business associates set up a tangled web of limited liability corporations in order to receive more than $10 million from foreign nationals and companies in Communist China and Romania. 



The explosive allegations made public Wednesday aren’t just claims or opinions; the Comer Committee is simply reporting to the American people what official bank records are indicating took place. 



Wednesday’s fact-dominated briefing led by Chairman Comer was the press conference that former Special Counsel Robert Mueller was supposed to have conducted. Mueller was appointed to investigate President Donald Trump’s alleged connection to Russia and any business he was doing overseas. 



For two years, an army of prosecutors and investigators found no evidence of wrongdoing by President Trump or his family because there was no there-there.  But the Biden case is very different and House Republicans came with the receipts to back it up. 



The oversight committee’s mantra that "bank records don’t lie" is an inconvenient fact that President Biden can’t explain away by simply denying these transactions ever took place. By insinuating these records are false, President Biden is in essence accusing reputable financial institutions of keeping phony records. 



Now that images of these records are out there for public inspection in the committee’s new 36-page memo, the burden is on President Biden and his family to explain why they’re lying to the American people by insisting this is all some far-fetched conspiracy theory. 



Their explanations are such an insult at this point that they can no longer be accepted. 



Everyone knows -- due to the mountain of documented evidence -- that Hunter Biden’s laptop is real, the wire transfers coming in from foreign nations are real, and the deposits in Biden bank accounts are real. 



If the mainstream media chooses not to engage on this story, their credibility will be so damaged that it will be impossible to repair. Just because they got the Trump story wrong then, it doesn’t make it right to ignore the Biden story now.   



Just four targeted bank subpoenas have provided a treasure trove of evidence pointing to an overseas-focused family influence peddling operation designed to cash in on Joe Biden when he was vice president of the United States. 



Peeling another layer of onion has brought into focus how far the Biden’s lucrative business extended and the sinister steps that were taken to make it all so difficult to trace. 



It’s well worth noting that there was a time not so long ago when congressional Democrats cared a great deal about foreign influence. 



The question of whether the sitting president of the United States is compromised on account of his family’s shady international business endeavors is a subject that should enjoy robust bipartisan support -- not underhanded obstructionist tactics by the minority party in the U.S. House. While following the money through bank records and Treasury Department Suspicious Activity Reports is a critical component of the Biden investigation, so is listening to government whistleblowers. 



To date, two credible whistleblowers have come forward with enlightening evidence that must now be drilled down on. An IRS special agent has information pertaining to alleged preferential treatment that Hunter Biden is receiving with the Biden Justice Department’s handling of his investigation by the U.S. Attorney in Delaware. 



The other allegation goes directly to the pay-for-play operation that the Biden family was conducting during Joe Biden’s vice presidency. Chairman Comer has subpoenaed the FBI for these records and is awaiting the details. This has caused many to wonder what President Barack Obama, Attorneys General Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, and former FBI Director James Comey knew about "Biden, Inc." since a lot of it was unfolding on their watch.



Let’s face it, if the pile of evidence that Chairman James Comer just presented was directed at former President Donald Trump, there would have been calls for his immediate impeachment. 



The elites responsible for this double standard must change direction, take these weighty allegations seriously and give them the attention they deserve for the sake of the country. 



In the meantime, President Biden and Hunter Biden should stop ducking and provide some basic honesty and transparency.

According to the biased corporate media — the folks that decide what is information and what is disinformation — Mr. Biden’s first term has been an amazing thing to behold. Just trust us, they say — and don’t ask any questions — just like with the Trump-Russia hoax and Hunter’s laptop.



These are indeed uncertain times in America, and the once-respected mainstream media is doing its part. These years will be remembered as the moment when the Fourth Estate became a full-time political partner of the Democratic Party and no longer pretended to care. We’re seeing the death of impartial journalism and, sadly, the havoc it’s wreaking on an open society. President Biden’s remarks at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner were fitting of the situation: “In a lot of ways, this dinner sums up my first two years in office. I’ll talk for 10 minutes, take zero questions, and cheerfully walk away.”



As Mr. Biden delivered this punchline the other night, the who’s who of the D.C. media elite exploded with laughter, with a wink and a nod. Mr. Biden’s behavior is so extraordinarily arrogant and carefree these days because the legacy media has become his enabler. You see, the president understands the game that’s afoot — the media is “all in” in its cover-up for him — because former President Donald Trump is still out there.



Mr. Biden’s reelection launch was pathetic and bizarre — and the liberal media in his pocket gleefully went along for the ride. They didn’t ask any tough questions, like, when’s the swing state rally in front of thousands of supporters? What problems have your policies fixed?



Are Americans better off today than they were four years ago? And perhaps most urgently, should a person in your condition — someone who didn’t remember just being in Ireland — really be in charge of the nuclear codes?



It was certainly clever how the disingenuous left-wing media made it about Mr. Biden’s age for a split second, then agreed in unison that it wasn’t cause for concern because he’ll probably be fine. But common sense tells us that things are far from all right in Mr. Biden’s America because people have an uneasy feeling — and that’s something the mainstream media can’t manipulate.



Hardworking American taxpayers are concerned about a prolonged economic downturn; they’re worried about interest rates, and they’re sick and tired of the high price of gas and groceries due to Mr. Biden’s out-of-control spending habits. They don’t like the new normal that this president’s have brought about.



This is not the second coming of the election of 1984, as Mr. Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and their allies in the media so desperately want you to believe. But rest assured; this is not President Ronald Reagan’s morning in America; this is a souped-up version of President Jimmy Carter’s malaise. In 1984, Reagan revitalized our economy with pro-growth policies and had America out in front leading the world again as the shining city on a hill. Reagan spoke optimistically about hope, growth, and opportunity for all.



The Biden-Harris team has produced the exact opposite. We’re back to the failed big government ideas of the past that didn’t work then, and, surprise — aren’t working now either. And on foreign policy, peace through strength abroad has been junked for the Obama doctrine of leading from behind. Our adversaries are toying with us again because they don’t respect us again.



Mr. Biden didn’t have any good news to share in his reelection campaign rollout because there isn’t any. Crime is up; our border is a sieve; fentanyl deaths are through the roof; we’re funding another forever war in Ukraine; and our national debt is a once unfathomable $31 trillion with no end in sight — thanks to Mr. Biden’s unwillingness to compromise with House Republicans.



Make no mistake about it; If 2024 looks and feels a lot like 1980, then maybe it is 1980 all over again. If Mr. Carter had chosen “finish the job” as his slogan in 1980, he would have been laughed out of the room — by the mainstream media. But today, they laugh, wink and nod — and ask no tough questions of the old man — ever.

Joe Biden has chosen “Let’s Finish The Job” for his 2024 re-election campaign slogan. To tens of millions of hardworking taxpayers, this is a very scary proposition because they know that the job President Biden wants to finish is fundamentally transforming America into the world’s next failed socialist state.



Curiously, nowhere in Biden’s video announcing his candidacy for four more years in the White House did he mention even one accomplishment. Nowhere did he mention the economy, crime, foreign policy, or immigration. And there’s a good reason for that; the Biden agenda has failed us miserably. The Biden-Harris ‘24 three minute kick-off spot isn’t grounded in reality. In fact, it depicts the warped vision of a hopelessly tone deaf 80 year old career politician who’s in complete denial of where we are as a country.



Imagine for a moment if Jimmy Carter ran on “finishing the job” in 1980. He would have been laughed out of the room — and the same should go for Joe Biden. Biden came to office promising to heal and unify, but since coming to power he’s behaved like a bull in a china shop, breaking almost everything he’s come into contact with. This president opened our southern border and created a war zone and fentanyl epidemic; he spent and borrowed taxpayers dollars like a drunken sailor and created an inflation disaster; he embraced George Soros’ vision of “reimagining policing” and made our cities and neighborhoods far less safe; his drive to gut the American energy industry has caused gas prices to skyrocket and remain uncomfortably high; and despite our staggering $31 trillion national debt, Joe Biden is unwilling to trim even one dollar from the budget.



Because of Joe Biden’s reckless policies, recent polling indicates that 69 percent of the American people hold pessimistic views about our economy both now and for the future. Only 25 percent think America is on the right track compared to 65 percent who think we’re headed in the wrong direction. And President Biden himself is stuck with a dismally low approval rating in the low 40s — and that’s on a good day.



Let’s face it; Joe Biden had a chance to do something important by bringing Americans together after the 2020 COVID-19 election and he chose not to. So, the questions going forward are familiar ones. Are you better off today than you were three years ago? And is the world a more stable place with President Biden calling the shots? We all know the truth.



Unfortunately, Biden’s failures don’t stop at the water’s edge. No, this president’s incompetence is having a negative impact overseas as well. President Biden’s incomprehensible decision to pull out of Afghanistan has allowed the Taliban to retake the country, thus wasting twenty years of American blood and treasure. And his policy of sending untold billions of unchecked taxpayer dollars to Ukraine for “as long as it takes” to fund America’s next forever war is simply continuing his decades-long record of wrong moves on matters of foreign policy.



No one believes that President Biden is leading an American comeback. That’s a blatant lie that’s only been allowed to remain on life support due to the biased mainstream media’s ongoing cover-up. To be sure, the malaise that Joe Biden has brought to America smacks of the depressing days during the second half of President Carter’s term in 1979 and 1980. And similar to Carter’s leadership gap, our country isn’t respected around the world today; and this time the reason is Biden. 



To make matters worse, Joe Biden is 80 years old and going on 90 it seems. Even the casual observer can see that this president isn’t firing on all cylinders. President Biden’s advanced age has forced him to delegate too much power to unelected senior staff and faceless bureaucrats and that’s yielded cataclysmic results for American families who deserve a fully functioning chief executive.



Questions about Biden’s cognitive decline and health will be an issue in the 2024 campaign, but just as important are the questions about whether this president is compromised due to his family’s complex web of overseas business entanglements with foreign adversaries. The liberal media won’t touch this story with a ten foot poll because they know an essential truth: bank records don’t lie. With each passing week, congressional investigators discover more international wire transfers ending up in Biden bank accounts. These allegations won’t go away and credible evidence from government whistleblowers will only keep them in the forefront going forward.    



Washington Democrats have decided to throw caution to the wind and put all their eggs in Biden’s basket despite the downsides. It appears that no one in the Democrat Party with any electability has the courage to take on the perilous Biden-Harris ticket, like Senator Ted Kennedy did with his challenge to the unpopular Carter-Mondale team in 1980. So, leftists in Congress, the mainstream media, academia, and Big Tech are now forced to continue their efforts to prop up Joe Biden, but thankfully the American people have the ultimate say.  



2024 will be a referendum on President Biden and his failed agenda — and it’s time for voters to “finish the job” and send him back to Delaware for his long overdue retirement.

Billionaire left-wing philanthropist George Soros has been back in the news lately.  This time it pertains to questions about the 92-year-old Democrat mega-donor’s connection to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. 



In the wake of Bragg’s openly political indictment of former President Donald Trump, Soros has been scrutinized for a $1 million contribution he made to a group that spent significant resources in support of Bragg’s candidacy. 



While Soros didn’t donate to Democrat Bragg’s campaign directly, tweets and statements in defense of his actions have raised eyebrows and rekindled a debate that’s been on everyone’s mind in the political world for a very long time. How much sway does Soros have with Democrats at all levels of government? 



For the past two decades, Soros has been an extremely influential benefactor of liberal candidates and causes. But these days, questions about his true reach extend far beyond the man himself to organizations and family members that push the same radical agenda. 



When Soros tweeted, "While I didn’t contribute to Alvin Bragg’s campaign, I have supported many other reform-minded prosecutors…," it struck many as disingenuous because his son and daughter-in-law both contributed over $10,000 each to Bragg’s campaign directly. 



So, when Soros’ spokesperson added, "George Soros and Alvin Bragg have never met in person or spoken by telephone, email, Zoom, etc… There has been no contact between the two," questions should have been asked about whether Bragg or Bragg’s staff had any contacts with any Soros family members or representatives of any of the advocacy groups under their control. 



Once again, the uncurious mainstream media failed to drill down in search of the whole truth, perhaps intentionally.  



According to the Soros-founded Open Society Foundations’ website, "George Soros… has given over $32 billion to fund the Open Society Foundations, which work in over 120 countries around the world." Even by today’s standards, that is extraordinary largesse. 



In calendar year 2021 alone, Open Society Foundations spent $401 million on programs in the United States, and it’s noteworthy that the group’s U.S. activity has skyrocketed in recent years. In 2016 by contrast, the group "only" spent $162 million in America. 



So, on the charitable side, evidence suggests that the Soros’ influence over U.S. public policy is on the rise. On the political side, similar trends are apparent. A recent Washington Post article entitled, "Meet the mega-donors pumping millions into the 2022 midterms," ranked Soros number one on the list with $128.5 million in contributions in support of Democrat candidates. 



Soros’ massive financial support for left-wing candidates has opened doors in Washington at the highest levels of government. According to the New York Post, Alexander Soros "scored at least a dozen meetings with White House officials in 2022, according to recently updated White House visitor logs." Additionally, Tom Perriello, the executive director of an arm of Open Society Foundations, also visited the Biden White House multiple times in recent years.



When it comes to Biden policy and Soros policy, it’s tough to tell where one ends and the other begins. 



According to Open Society Foundations’ website, on the issue of voting rights, "politics in the United States have been marked by partisan assaults on voting rights." 



On immigration, the group says they "support a range of groups that work on immigration issues, from local and state organizations that provide frontline legal advice, to individuals seeking asylum or facing deportation." 



On criminal justice reform, Open Society Foundations "advocate for an approach to policing that emphasizes community engagement and accountability, particularly for the use of force." 



And on climate issues, Soros recently tweeted, "Climate change is an existential threat to our civilization." 



If any of these statements were attributed to Joe Biden instead of someone in Soros world, no one would blink.   



The problem with these positions is that they are both failed and dishonest. Turnout statistics indicate that Biden’s divisive attacks on voter suppression are a total farce; the Biden administration’s lawless immigration policy has created a war zone and fentanyl epidemic at the border; the left’s drive to "reimagine policing" has caused crime and the feeling of danger to skyrocket in our cities; and the irresponsible push for wasteful spending on the green new deal agenda has caused an inflation crisis that won’t go away.



In addition, the Soros pet project of bankrolling the campaigns of left-wing district attorneys and local prosecutors around the country has been extremely detrimental to the American ideal of law and order. Unsurprisingly, Soros is in complete denial. In fact, if an op-ed he penned on the subject is any indication, he may be more out of touch than President Biden himself. 



Soros opined that "reform-minded prosecutors and other law-enforcement officials around the country have been coalescing around an agenda that promises to be more effective and just." It takes just a cursory look at what’s going on in Chicago and so many other cities to realize that nothing could be further from the truth. 



But Soros continued his tall tale by saying, "the funds I provide enable sensible reform-minded candidates to receive a hearing from the public. Judging by the results, the public likes what it’s hearing. "This is absurd. Poll after poll say that Americans are very concerned about the rise in crime. 



And perhaps most alarmingly, the tone-deaf Soros has indicated he’s planning to continue his assault on safe streets in the future. He boasted in the article that he has "no intention of stopping" his support of radical prosecutors like Kimberly Gardner in St. Louis, Larry Krasner in Philadelphia, and Kim Foxx in Chicago.



If there’s a silver lining in the case of Alvin Bragg’s sham indictment of Donald Trump, maybe it will be the country refocusing on the failed radical agenda of George Soros, his family and their deep-pocketed organizations that are driving the Democrat Party’s dangerous lurch to the left in the areas of crime, illegal immigration, and climate change. It won’t be a moment too soon.

The Citizens United Political Victory Fund (CUPVF) is backing West Virginia Rep. Alex Mooney for Senate in 2024 to challenge Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, the Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.



David Bossie, president of Citizens United, endorsed Mooney Thursday because he is a “principled constitutional conservative” who is the right choice for West Virginia, according to a statement provided to the DCNF. Mooney, as a House Freedom Caucus Member, will fight for the right to life, secure the border and challenge the Biden administration’s green energy policies.



“Alex Mooney has always been a conservative Republican and will always be a conservative Republican; and that’s exactly the kind of U.S. Senator West Virginians deserve,” Bossie said in the statement. “In 2024, every conservative must rally around conservative Republican Alex Mooney for U.S. Senate so West Virginians don’t have to worry about having a senator in Washington who supports the left-wing Biden agenda.”



Mooney could go up against West Virginia Republican Gov. Jim Justice in a Republican primary, who said he is “seriously considering” running for Senate against Manchin in 2024. The congressmen recently criticized Justice for being a “Big RINO” (Republican-in-name-only) after polling suggested Justice would beat Manchin and Mooney would lose.



The five-term congressman was initially elected to the House of Representatives in 2014, and serves on the House Financial Services Committee. He was endorsed by former President Donald Trump in his latest 2022 reelection where he handily won.



CUPVF joins other GOP organizations in its endorsement of Mooney, like Club For Growth, the Senate Conservatives Fund and Gun Owners of America, along with Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.



“Alex Mooney will fight for much needed fiscal responsibility in the Senate and if elected will join the growing ranks of Senators who support congressional term limits because Washington must listen to the American people and reform the way it does business,” Bossie said.

The Biden regime’s abortive Disinformation Governance Board was a sinister initiative from the beginning. The board’s chief public proponents, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the board’s head, Nina Jankowicz, set off alarm bells when they were never entirely forthright or clear about what the board intended to do. Even now, long after the whole thing went sideways on them when they discovered, to their dismay, that many Americans still valued the freedom of speech, they’re trying to cover their tracks.



The patriotic group Citizens United recently submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for emails between Jankowicz and her staff, but what the group received was so heavily redacted as to be virtually useless. And so the question must be asked: what, at this late date, do Mayorkas, Jankowicz, and their henchmen have to hide?



Just the News reported Tuesday that back when the existence of the Disinformation Governance Board first became public knowledge, Mayorkas was full of bland reassurances, insisting that there was “nothing sinister to hide” and claiming that the Orwellian and authoritarian board was actually based upon “best practices.” But you will no doubt be shocked — shocked! — to learn that this hasn’t actually turned out to be true. Just the News adds that “a year later, Mayorkas’ department is refusing to let Americans see most of the legal justifications and talking points it created to defend the now-disbanded board from ‘blowback,’ FOIA documents showed.”



Citizens United received over 100 pages of Jankowicz’s internal communications with her staff, but most of it was just blank white boxes. “What little is visible makes clear that DHS underestimated the negative reaction the board would provoke and was scrambling to find ways to keep the story from being pushed by ‘hostile’ news outlets.” This is understandable. These people live inside the Beltway, and inside the Beltway, nearly everyone hates the freedom of speech. These little authoritarians had no idea how poorly their act would play outside their echo chamber.



On April 27, 2022, Jankowicz warned her staff: “This afternoon I did start receiving a fair amount of blowback (accusing DHS of being the ‘Ministry of Truth’ etc., lots honing in on ‘Russia’ in the Politico blurb) and some abuse (which I expected and I’m used to).” Used to harsh criticism? Really? Yet earlier this month she claimed that the right-wing fiends at Fox News “made over 500 scaremongering statements about my role, my views, and my personal life,” causing her to be inundated with death threats and upsetting her to the extent that she has not been able to establish the proper relationship with her newborn.



Before Fox supposedly ruined her life, however, she was busy dodging questions about what the board would actually do. “Some of the communications,” Just the News noted, “show the board’s responses to direct questions posed in a letter from Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), such as what language in the Constitution allows DHS to create such a board and hire staff for it. Other questions included which parts of DHS would be ‘responsible for monitoring and collecting data’ on misinformation and what ‘specific actions’ DHS intended to take to ‘counter misinformation.’” But don’t expect any clarity: “Each answer was redacted by the department.” What a surprise.



Citizens United President David Bossie remarked: “Joe Biden’s Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board (‘DGB’) is just the latest example of the left’s push to weaponize the massive powers of the federal government for political purposes. Whether it’s the Justice Department, the IRS, or the Department of Homeland Security, the Biden Administration is laser focused on targeting, silencing, and censoring Americans who do not agree with their radical agenda.” As much as Americans may not believe this could be happening here, Bossie is right.



Just in the last few days, we have seen the ATF and the IRS move to target critics of the regime. We have seen the FBI pause from its efforts to frame the former president and Republican front-runner for 2024 long enough to label parents “domestic terrorists” for daring to protest at school board meetings against the far-Left agenda being pushed on their children in primary schools.



We have seen the putative president in a positively insouciant mood after a horrific mass murder in Nashville, apparently because he saw how the massacre could be used to advance his desire to disarm law-abiding Americans. The ongoing secrecy surrounding the Disinformation Governance Board, even a year after this ominous initiative was abandoned, only highlights the fact that this regime has goals that should be a matter of grave concern to every free citizen.

More than 100 pages of internal communication between the board's former executive director, Nina Jankowicz, and her staff were released with heavy redactions to the conservative nonprofit Citizens United. 


 
What little is visible makes clear that DHS underestimated the negative reaction the board would provoke and was scrambling to find ways to keep the story from being pushed by "hostile" news outlets.


 
In the FOIA emails, Jankowicz cited "blowback and abuse" after certain media outlets began describing the board as the "Ministry of Truth" as word spread about its formation. 



"There is a fair possibility this could end up on a hostile TV network in the coming days," she wrote.



Some of the communications show the board's responses to direct questions posed in a letter from Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), such as what language in the Constitution allows DHS to create such a board and hire staff for it.



Other questions included which parts of DHS would be "responsible for monitoring and collecting data" on misinformation and what "specific actions" DHS intended to take to "counter misinformation." Each answer was redacted by the department. 



About four months after it was formed, the board was disbanded amid outcry over Jankowicz's leadership and failure to articulate what its mission would actually be.



Citizens United President David Bossie provided a statement to Just The News, accusing the Biden administration of politicizing the executive branch to persecute political opponents. 



"Joe Biden's Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board ("DGB") is just the latest example of the left's push to weaponize the massive powers of the federal government for political purposes," he wrote. "Whether it's the Justice Department, the IRS, or the Department of Homeland Security, the Biden Administration is laser focused on targeting, silencing, and censoring Americans who do not agree with their radical agenda."



In an interview on "Just The News No Noise" Tuesday, Bossie noted that Jankowicz herself was a spreader of disinformation who publicly denied the authenticity of the Hunter Biden "laptop from hell." 



"The American people realize what's going on," he said. "Because the American people don't believe in government censorship."



Addressing the "blowback" quote from Jankowicz, Bossie said it betrayed a certain anxiety from the board's staff and showed how the group really felt about the project.



Bossie argued that the administration's internal communications and public actions alike betray anxiety about public reaction to their information control efforts. He cited as an example the IRS visit to the home of Twitter Files journalist Matt Taibbi even as Taibbi was testifying before Congress about government censorship through outside surrogates.  



"You see these folks in these internal memos, emails," Bossie said, "talking about how nervous they are, saying, 'Oh, my goodness, you know, I expected some blowback, but I didn't expect this type or this level of blowback.' Just right now, this week, we are seeing the story break about the IRS sending jackbooted thugs to Matt Taibbi's house at the very moment he is a witness about government power and what the government is doing ... by stifling speech on Facebook and on Twitter."



House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan earlier this month announced the issuance of subpoenas to a group of Biden administration officials, including Jankowicz, as part of the GOP's ongoing investigation into the perceived political "weaponization" of federal agencies. 



"We have repeatedly sought information from you concerning your official actions and duties as a DHS employee and former Executive Director of the Board," Jordan wrote to Jankowicz in March, "including how the Board intended to define disinformation, how it planned to collection information and from what sources, how it anticipated countering disinformation, and how it proposed to protect First Amendment rights.



"As the former Executive Director of the Board, you are uniquely situated to provide information that is relevant and necessary to inform the Committee's oversight and potential legislative reforms. Accordingly, and in light of your disregard of our earlier voluntary requests, please find attached a subpoena compelling you to appear for a deposition."



Jankowicz replied that she would be happy to appear before the committee. 



"I will happily testify," she tweeted earlier this month, "to the truth of the Board under oath: That it was a working group meant to address disinformation that endangered Americans' safety, and that — because of the Republican Party's irresponsible lies about it — our democracy is less secure."
